Real Wedding: Garden Of Love

Making your wedding your own is a philosophy we preach constantly here at WGA, so you can imagine our delight when reader Esther shared her DIY wedding with us! Newlyweds Esther and Clement had their big day filled to the brim with spectacular DIY feats and blessed memories. It was a real impressive labour of love, as everything was handmade ? from the flowers to the decorations. If they were not handmade, then they were custom-made like the invitations and even their wedding bands!

The beautiful bride getting ready for the big day. I love how her shoes compliment the colour scheme of her wedding.

The nervous excitement while she waits for her groom?

The dapper groom! The flower he?s holding is one of the many DIY projects the newlyweds infused into their wedding.

It?s not at every wedding where you see an aisle lined with members of the Boys? Brigade! Esther shares that these are from the 10th Kuala Lumpur Company and she had incorporated them into her big day as she is their captain.

Esther had decided early on in wedding preparation process that she didn?t want any fresh flowers at her wedding because she didn?t like to see them wilt and die. That propelled her to look for paper flowers as an alternative thinking it was easier but that?s where the whole DIY process began! Bride tip: If you want to DIY, make sure you are set with the right paper texture and colours! Sometimes, the search is half the ordeal!

Sealed with a kiss! (P.S: Doesn?t her veil look lovely?)

How adorable are the flower girls and page boys?

Even the wedding bands were custom-made with their fingerprints! I think it?s such a novel way to ?imprint? each other?s rings as opposed to a simple wedding band. They imprinted their ring fingers too, instead of their thumbprints.

The whole bridal party ? it?s important to note that the page boy signs and flower girl baskets and tassels were all also handmade and part of the DIY process!

Esther shares that she had initially wanted an outdoor wedding, one in the garden perhaps. But that was not possible, so she decided to bring a garden into the wedding! Hence the floral heavy theme and the bright-toned hues. I think it worked out beautifully, don?t you think?

Delectable cake pops and the dessert table!

All that labour of love in the DIY process amounted to giving the newlyweds gorgeous photos like these! The DIY process really brought the family together, Esther said, where everyone got together and sat down for 2 whole days folding and making paper flowers during the Hari Raya holidays. Her mother kept them fed and happy, while her father and brothers-in-law helped in making the giant flower stands. Altogether there were 40 giant flowers, about 300 tiny flowers and countless leaves!

For the hand bouquets, the bridal party (which consisted of Esther?s sisters; her Maid of Honour was her twin sister!) got together to make their own hand bouquets. They also helped with the car decorations and cutting up the paper flower petals for confetti.

Walking in as husband and wife!?The newlyweds had met in university and you know what they say about how opposites attract! Esther tells us, ?He was a rockstar, I was in the student council. We met during his orientation talent time as he was a contestant and I was in the organizing committee. It was a love hate kinda relationship for about a year before we got together. What made me agree to a date with him was that he was so prepared. He called me asking me for a date with the when, where, what and how. Hard to turn down a guy who was so prepared and confident!?

What is a celebration without cake? I love the floral cut-outs and the quirky design!

A beautiful shot of the bride stealing a quiet moment with her groom.

Congratulations Esther & Clement!?Thank you for sharing your amazing DIY wedding with us here at WGA. Happy Monday, dear readers!
